Generations of farming expertise

Three of the Ceres and the greater Western Cape’s leading fruit producers are shareholders in Zonnehaven. The combined farming footprint, across the Swartland and Witzenberg areas, exceeds 24,000ha.

Each one of our shareholder producers brings something unique to competitive advantage. Whether it is a specific fruit variety, or an innovative storage system which allows for a specialised seasonal availability window.

All three have strong local ties and have been stewards of the land they farm for generations. It is through their commitment to excellence and their belief that the end consumer should move closer to the producer, that Zonnehaven was born.

PRODUCTION UNITS:
Seven units spread across our footprint produce export quality pome, as well as stone fruit.

STORAGE AND COOLING CAPACITY:

• RA (Regular Atmosphere): 5000 bins
• CA (Controlled Atmosphere): 25 000 bins
• DCA (Dynamic Controlled Atmosphere): 16 000 bins
• Forced cooling and holding capacity: 700 pallets
• Two packing lines (Apple and Pear/Apple)

PRODUCTION UNITS:
Six farm properties in the temperature diverse climate of the Koue Bokkeveld provide export quality fruit, year-round.

• 5 Regular Atmosphere (RA) rooms for bin pre-cooling and pallet cooling of packed product: 11 376 bins
• 34 Controlled Atmosphere (CA) rooms
• Total bin storage capacity: 43 130 bins
• Three packing lines, each with distinct capabilities
