Social sustainability
Caring for the people
We are committed to community-led development that strengthens livelihoods, supports families and creates opportunity across its producer regions.
Accreditation
Our empowerment approach is underpinned by SIZA social accreditation, ensuring ethical labour practices and responsible working conditions.
Aligning with these standards confirms that we comply with local labour laws as well as international market requirements, providing sustainable, cost-effective, and safe working conditions.
Social Responsibility
Our shareholder producers run their own social responsibility and community initiatives, creating a unified power for social change in the broaden area in which we operate. These include programmes across early childhood development (ECD), literacy and language, adult education, life skills development, sports and recreation, and community empowerment and leadership development.
Together we are creating safe, supporting environments enabling working families to thrive and contributing to stronger, more resilient rural communities.
Focused interventions:
Noble Earth Foundation: Doornkraal Agri has established a non-profit company to drive their efforts.
Retailer co-funded initiatives:
Along with Waitrose Foundation our eligible shareholder producers’ agri-workers propose projects that improve education, health, or livelihoods. Funding is allocated directly to the initiatives with the most worker support.
